Expected results

conseguidoThe results expected following the execution of the project are listed below:

  • Far-reaching dissemination of the Natura 2000 Network, knowledge of its values and goals, the motivation behind its creation, its resources and the benefits for society in general and for specific sectors. The above will be achieved by means of the publication of 3,000 copies of an informative book on the Natura 2000 Network, visits by more than 100 people/day to the project website, the development and use of platforms for the dissemination of the Natura 2000 Network on the Internet (a digital identity, a blog, a microblog, social networks and communities and the website), the press, radio and television (120 reports, 60 interviews, 60 radio spots and, probably, 250 news stories broadcast throughout the project), the development of the Communication Plan following the completion of the project, the publication of informative material and the holding of 30 photographic missions and 72 training meetings with the sectors involved. Following the completion of the project, at least two thirds of the population (two in three people) are expected to know what the Natura 2000 Network is and what its objectives in the work area are.
  • The effective promotion of the Natura 2000 Network among the most important national tour operators and the reorientation of the internal tourism offer towards natural, sustainable, cultural and leisure tourism in the protected areas of the Natura 2000 Network, as well as an increase in the tourist demand for these locations. To achieve this result a promotional video of the Natura 2000 Network will be published, 15 meetings will be held to change the attitude of the main national tour operators to enable them to know about and offer these protected areas, a brochure on tourist resources and opportunities aimed at tour operators and the population living within the Natura 2000 Network, the promotion of sustainable tourism in the Natura 2000 Network by means of the “tourist service” of the EFE Agency, the publication of an informative book on the Natura 2000 Network and the conducting of a course for the dynamization of the Natura 2000 Network, which will train approximately 1,000 technical experts (local development agents and experts from provincial councils, related ministries and public enterprises).
  • A shift towards a positive attitude among the farming and livestock breeding sectors with regard to the Natura 2000 Network, knowledge of the opportunities for the development of this sector within the protected areas and active participation in the development of conservation guidelines for these areas from the very beginning. XX open meetings will be held for livestock breeders, farmers and other inhabitants in the towns included in the areas chosen for the Natura 2000 Network, at which the attendance of a total of XX people is expected.
  • Sensitization and education based on respect for the environment for 10,000 schoolchildren between 6 and 18 years of age from 30 municipalities. The products created by the project to achieve this result include the holding of a theatre competition, the conducting of 100 workshops in 30 schools and the celebration of the World Day of the Environment.
